TUV-RSI has just installed a NEW glow discharge spectrometer in their new lab facility in La Vista, Nebraska. The addition of the spectrometer allows for advanced chemical analysis services.

TUV-RSI has the capability to perform Optical Emission Spectroscopy for quantitative chemical analysis. We can also apply Energy Dispersive X-ray Techniques for qualitative analysis.

Using Optical Emission Spectroscopy we can analyze plain carbon steel, stainless steel and malleable iron to determine the percentage of alloying elements such as carbon, sulphur, manganese, vanadium, chromium, boron, tungston, aluminum, magnesium, copper and zinc. TUV-RSI has the ability to identify several elements (heavier than Sodium) thru Energy Dispersive X-ray Techniques, or EDAX. EDAX is commonly used during Scanning Eelectron Microscopy to identify foreign materials such as inclusions or various corrosive elements. The following are two examples of EDAX analysis:
